My name is Tom Hollow and I am a fine art photographer and film-maker based in Auckland, New Zealand. I lead a tight-knit team of brilliant creatives - Hollow & Co. Our style is authentic, chic and timeliness and our approach is relaxed and fun-loving.

A few years ago I was living in Salt Lake City, USA surrounded by snowcapped mountains and a barren red desert - it was here I discovered my passion for story telling. I returned home to New Zealand to create beautiful, rich, authentic, and bold collections of photo & video.

Having spent the past 10 years capturing weddings, fashion, events, tv & film across the USA, Australia & New Zealand, I have come to realise it’s all about people. CAREER

Since the beginning of my career as a photographer & film-maker I have had many incredible opportunities including capturing the weddings of three capped All Black captains (McCaw, Savea, Whitelock) and have had the privilege of working alongside many other sporting legends and celebrities alike. I especially remember capturing portraits of Jonah Lomu and his family for an editorial spread, later that day we shared lunch together - these photos would become their last family portraits before he passed away.

I have specialised in on-set tv & film stills photography which has allowed me to work alongside world famous celebrities, capturing some of the biggest TV shows, films and documentaries across the USA, Australia & New Zealand for the likes of Amazon Prime, Disney & Warner Brothers Discovery.

The commercial aspect of my photo & video work has allowed me to travel and capture advertising & marketing campaigns across the globe. Beekeepers, fashion designers, healthcare executives and apple growers - In studio or out in the field. I’ve worked with professionals from all walks of life, however at the end of the day we’re all human and we each have a wonderful story. I have the pleasure of capturing those unique individual stories and showcasing them in the very best light.

Our events business Black On Black has grown to represent over fifty of the most talented photographers and videographers across Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Our team capture some of the biggest and best launch events, conferences and premieres for a range of clients including Cartier, Christian Louboutin, Versace and Louis Vuitton.

What I enjoy most about my work is the people. Real, down to earth people who are a joy to work with. At weddings I love to chat to the parents or grandparents and hear the story of how they first met their spouse. I enjoy meeting up-and-coming photographers and videographers and sharing what I have learnt and encouraging them towards their goals. Whether it’s a coffee or wine in Ponsonby or a cup of tea via virtual meeting, I’m always available for a chat.
