Quality Vendors

When it comes to choosing vendors, experience matters. Make sure you surround yourself with quality people and then take it a step further by trusting them to look after your day. A quick zoom call or coffee at your local can ensure that the vendors you’ve chosen are professional & reliable - knowing they have everything covered will allow you to relax on your wedding day. If you choose to book with Hollow & Co. we will deliver you a curated list of our preferred vendors - New Zealand’s best wedding vendors.

Think Logistics

Take time to think through the logistics of the day. Map out your wedding day by creating a draft schedule - doing this will raise questions you never thought to ask. Details such as transport, guest communication and MC duties are often overlooked. By walking through the day in your mind, you’ll be able to address a number of questions and solve problems before they happen, giving you the time to live in the moment on your special day. Hollow & Co. will collab. with you to create a draft schedule right at the very first meeting, which helps to decide what coverage best suits your day.

Creative Freedom

The Creative Session - This is the part of the day which we allocate to capture shots of the bride & groom, and often the bridal party. It’s always good to walk into this knowing what types of locations you are after and what vibes you are chasing. Your photographer should offer their thoughts, or if you have any ideas, these can be discussed well in advance.

It’s also a good idea to talk about how long you’d like to spend on photos, and where in the day this can fit in best. Remember to factor in travel times and transport arrangements for yourselves and bridal party.

A creative session can be captured before the ceremony, in a ‘first look’ style, or after the ceremony which is more common and traditional. Both options have their pros and cons and it really just depends on what feels best to you. Send us an email and we'll be more than happy to discuss these with you.

After all the formalities of a wedding day have been ticked off and maybe a few drinks have been downed, sunset can provide a great 10 minute opportunity to capture the most relaxed photos of the day.

Prep Work

During getting ready / preparation shots there are a few things that often stand out in photos that you’d rather not have remembered forever - typical culprits are bright coloured water bottles, food rubbish, socks and pyjamas. If possible, keep one room clean and tidy so we can capture details and any final moments before departing for the ceremony.

When it comes to family portraits, we recommend preparing a list of combinations of family and friends who you'd like captured together. We've found that these photos grow in value - when you consider how often all your family get together, look decent, and are happy to be there.

Stress Less

Your wedding day is about celebrating with friends and family, declaring love, looking good, and having a good old party - stress does not deserve a seat at the table.

One of the best ways to counter stress is by preparing. Once the wedding day arrives, let it all happen. Weddings are fluid events, things change, adjustments might need to be made, but your vendors are well equipped to handle these changes.

After all the prepping and planning is done, the best piece of advice we can give you is to allow yourself the freedom to slow down, soak it all in and don’t sweat the small stuff. Also, party hard.
